Coast of Poets + Pomaire

An amazing littoral full of poetry, tradition and charm, known as Coast of Poets is the area where several Chilean poets lived and created their legacy, including the famous writer Pablo Neruda (Literature Nobel Prize, 1971). Tour by Pomaire, a typical Chilean village with marvelous clay craft and delicious dishes of the traditional Chilean cuisine.


Tour details:

  • This tour starts from a hotel, Valparaíso Cruise Ship Terminal VTP or particular address in Valparaíso or Viña del Mar.
  • This is a private tour that includes: Authorized vehicle + professional driver + English speaking tour guide + Isla Negra house museum entrance + basic lunch (starter, main course and dessert. Drinks have extra charge).
  • This tour cannot be made on Mondays (Neruda´s house museum is closed).
  • The following circuit description is referential; it does not indicate the order in which the tourist attractions will be visited.

Circuit description:

Delight yourself visiting an amazing littoral full of poetry and charm where several Chilean poets lived and created their legacy including the famous writer Pablo Neruda (Literature Nobel Prize, 1971).

We will have a beautifull panoramic view of Algarrobo, fame for the crystalline water pool at San Alfonso del Mar Resort, with an extension of more than one kilometer in length, 8 hectares and 250 million liters of water recognized by Guinness World Record as the largest of its type in the world.

We will continue to El Quisco a small bay hiding place of the English corsair Sir Francis Drake, when the Spaniard pursued him as a pirate. The ashes of the Chilean poet, folk musician and composer Clara Solovera were scattered in the bay after her death in 1992.

In Isla Negra is located the most famous home of the most famous Chilean Poet Pablo Neruda (one of the three house museums that exist), is a place to daydream, a house conceived by the poet just in front of the ocean, beautiful architecture and unique collections of objects from all over the world.

We will also visit El Totoral, a typical Chilean town, where it merges the Chilean and the Spaniard. Casimiro Marcó del Pont, the last Governor of Chile in his escape from Santiago to Valparaíso stopped in this small town and gave to the local church the virgin of his private chapel he wore (1815). This particular virgin remains at the Franciscan Church of El Totoral of colonial architecture and famous for its summer Sunday typical masses (folk dancing and singing). There is also a small handcraft market with different products like artisan weaving, ceramic and carved wood, artisan spirits, homemade bread, jams and homemade chocolates.

We continue to Pomaire, typical Chilean town. Its main attraction is the main street where they sell crafts in clay and offers the typical dishes of Chilean cuisine as pastel de choclo (corn pie with meat) and empanadas. The pottery is reddish, smooth and shiny, its pottery tradition dates back before the Spaniards arrived and you can find are vases, pots, ornaments and decorations. We will have time visit the market and buy.

Traditional basic lunch is included (starter, main course and desert. Drinks have an extra charge).
